Board
March 2010 Keibu Kan board meeting,
Members present, Stevan, Amanda, Dave G, Dave T, Mark, Jana, Stephen, Daniel.
Minutes:
JSKA GB / JSKA UK update
The board was given the latest news in regard to us now reverting back to JSKA UK. This was after the students from Manchester resigned from the JSKA. Sensei Abe then appointed Sensei Stevan Harrison as the chief instructor and chairman for the JSKA UK.
May course with sensei Abe update.
The board was told that the training times and dates have been set. Full details are on the www.keibukan.com web site, events page. We really need as many of our own students to attend as the cost of running the course with our chief instructor Keigo Abe 9th Dan is not cheap.
Students wishing to train with Abe sensei in Switzerland, London or Italy should see sensei Harrison for details.
June 2010 Keibu Kan Karate Championship.
Dates are set. 12th and 13th June.
After discussion and taking into account the boards views, we will keep the championship on the same weekend but will only have one day. The championship will be held on the Sunday 13th June.
Sensei Harrison will also host some pre championship lessons including a brown and black belt lesson and squad training lesson on the 12th June.
Training times will be between 10am and 5pm so plenty of time for the 8pm kick off between England and USA in the Fifa world cup.
On the Sunday, there will be events for all students including Tiny Tigers. More details will follow in the coming newsletters.
CRB update
The board was told that the Keibu Kan is fully upto date with all instructors and assistant instructors having been CRB checked.
Tiny Tigers 5 years old.
We will look at having a special badge or baseball bat for students to celebrate the first 5 years of the Tiny Tigers.
JSKA 2010 World Karate championship.
The committee confirmed who had booked flights to Portugal and thus going to the championship. They also have some ideas for fund raising with one event being a sponsored cycle ride between all the Keibu Kan dojos. (60miles round trip)
Again further details in the coming newsletters.
We are also still hoping Portugal come up with other ways students can take part instead of just the packages on offer at present.
Keibu Kan Christmas party Sunday 5th Dec
Keibu Kan Kata championship Sunday 5th Dec
These dates have been set so book your days off now. The venue is still to be found. We chose the Sunday as we know from the past that the Sunday is a lot cheaper than the Friday or Saturday. Those at 2009 Xmas party really had a great time.
Tiny Tigers training fees, membership fees, assessments, etc.
The board was told that none of the Tiny Tigers clubs are to increase the training fees, assessment fees etc. these will again be reviewed in November.
The board was also told about what happens if a student wants to open up a new or an extension of a current tiny tigers club. These details are available to all tt instructors and anyone who would like to run a tt club in the future.
Keibu Kan training fees, membership etc
The board was told that the Keibu Kan training fees will not increase in April and will be reviewed as normal in November.
The board was also given a brief idea of what happens if a student wants to open their own dojo. Again this information is available to anyone who would like to open a new dojo. Some of the other clubs have had to increase their training fees and will advise their own students.
Japan visit 2011
A small group of students visited Japan to sightsee and train in Matsuyama with sensei Abe and his assistant sensei Nagaki in 2009. We plan to do another trip to Japan in 2011.
If you are interested in going please let sensei Harrison know. Those interested in going will then meet to sort out when would be best and any suggestions for what they want to do in Japan.
Child protection.
Mark, our child protection officer also gave sensei Harrison some information in regard to child safety. Any outcome after reading will be notified to students.
Licence renewals, membership renewals for TT.
Not discussed at the meeting, but to give you some information. Students licence application and TT membership are now all being processed. Once done, licence and membership books will be returned.
If for any reason you haven’t handed in your licence books, membership books, student update sheet and monies by the 31st March. You are deemed non active. You will not be able to train until your application has been fully processed. If you have any concerns, see your sensei.
To give you an idea of current clubs within the Keibu Kan (JSKA UK)

Below is only for regular classes and not the Tiny Tigers.
Students who would like to train at a different dojo now and again should see their own sensei for details and to make sure their sensei is happy for them to do so. Each dojo has a visitor training fee for existing students who are part of the Keibu Kan (JSKA UK) and would like to train at a different dojo now and again.
Sensei Harrison also now has a single visit fee for existing students who train at one of the other dojos. Please make sure your own sensei however knows that you plan to train at his dojos before you go.
If any of our black belts would like to open a dojo, see your own sensei or sensei Harrison for details and help.
