Grading guidelines.

Students= S, Parents =P, I = instructors.

S. You must first have the permission from your sensei in order to grade. It is up to your own sensei how they make this decision.

S. You must hand in you licence book and grading fee at least 7 days before the grading. You could also book you place on the awards evening at the same time.

S. Turn up at the grading in a positive mood. Remember you have done lots of training and are ready for your grading. Children must also arrive in their karate suits with an over gi to keep warm.

S. Students may keep on an over gi in the dojo to keep warm. Please however make sure you are ready to grade when your name is called.

S.P.I. Arrive for 7.15pm when the front doors of the Odiham dojo will be open. Find your sensei and your fellow dojo students for some last minute practice and warm up.

S.P.I. Be ready for the grading to start at 7.30pm

S.P.I. Take into the dojo your training bags. Do not leave any personal affects out side the dojo or in the change area.

S.P.I. Do not eat or drink in the dojo. Only drink in the break out areas.

S.P. Keep quite. You should only speak to ask a sensei a question. If you want to chat, go outside the dojo into the break out areas.

S.P. Sit still and don’t run around. Students should again be with your own dojo group and its assigned black belt to look after the students.

S.P.I. Watch the grading. This, both supports your fellow student as well as allowing you to learn from the grading.

S.P.I. The dojo instructor for each club is responsible for the students from their dojo while the student is in the dojo. If a student needs to leave the dojo into the break out area or to leave they may do so with the permission of their dojo black belt. Parents of children under 18 become responsible for their children once they leave the dojo. The dojo is defined as the main training area and not the break out areas.

Parents.

As above +

You are responsible for your children until they enter the dojo. Then they become the responsibility of your child’s instructor. While in the dojo an instructor from your child’s dojo will look after your child.

Please escort your child in and out of change areas, toilets as needed.

Don’t have a chat with other parents while in the dojo. Please do so out side in the break out area.

Follow the instructions given to you by any of our black belts.

Take photos, videos.

Instructors.

As above +

Take a proactive role. Keep the noise levels in the dojo to an absolute minimum. Make sure no one is running around, drinking or eating in the dojo.

If a child student needs to leave the dojo, make sure you find the parent to supervise.

One instructor for each dojo to keep your students together both before and after the grading.

Watch the grading

S.P.I. After all students have finished the grading, we will line up and bow. Students can then either leave or stay a little longer and receive both their grading results and some feed back.

If you do stay for the results and feedback you will not be able to leave until all students have received their results. You can’t just wait for your result and then leave. Parents and instructors can also listen to the results and feedback.

You will get your new belt and licence books back at the awards evening.
